IDT Energy Critical Achievements and Milestones

  • More than a decade ago, states begin deregulating their natural gas and electricity markets. Third-party companies like IDT Energy can now purchase and resell energy to end users, offering consumers the ability to choose their service provider.

  • November 2004: IDT Energy Gives New York State Residents the Power to Choose – launching as a Retail Energy Provider (REP) and enrolling it’s first customers in Orange and Rockland (O&R) and Central Hudson (CHUD).

  • March 2005: IDT Energy acquires North American Energy (NAE), introduces service to customers in ConEdison territory and surpasses 30,000 meters served.

  • October 2005: IDT Energy expands its service offering and gives environmentally conscious customers the power to choose green energy solutions.

  • January 2006: IDT Energy surpasses 100,000 meters served.

  • July 2006: IDT Energy surpasses 200,000 meters served.

  • November 2006: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first customers in New York’s National Fuel Gas (NFG-NY), National Grid (NiMO), Keyspan and Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) serviceable areas.

  • July 2007: IDT Energy surpasses 300,000 meters served.

  • April 2009: IDT Energy surpasses 400,000 meters served.

  • August 2009: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first New York State Gas & Electric (NYSEG) customers. IDT Energy now offers its services in all New York State competitive markets.

  • March 2010: IDT Energy receives approval and licensing from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU). IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first PSEG customers in the state of New Jersey.

  • April 2010: IDT Energy receives approval and licensing from the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PUC). IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first PPL customers in the state of Pennsylvania.

  • January 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first PECO customers in Pennsylvania.

  • April 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first National Fuel Gas (NFG-PA) customers in Pennsylvania and Atlantic City Electric (ACE) customers in New Jersey.

  • May 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first Jersey Central Power & Light (JCPL) customers in New Jersey.

  • June 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first South Jersey Gas (SJG) customers in New Jersey.

  • August 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first Rockland Electric (RECO) customers in New Jersey.

  • September 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) customers in New Jersey.

  • October 2011: IDT Energy initiates service and enrolls its first Met-Ed (MetED) and Penelec customers (First Energy) in Pennsylvania and kicks off with a 1,000,000 piece media insert into every residential home in the serviceable footprint.

  • October 2011: IDT Energy planned re-launch of idtenergy.com. The new site includes a variety of visual and back-office enhancements. These include a streamlined service-order process and energy-related money-saving tips for home and business. The enhanced site offers new ways for customers to interact with our dedicated and in-house US-based customer care team.
